2018 2 Litre Krash Kings Results

Postby Jon#606 » Fri 07 Dec 2018, 11:53 pm

The last team meeting of the season saw 9 drivers take to the quick Hednesford Hills Raceway for the 2 Litre Krash Kings meeting. Due to concerns about the number of racers, the meeting format was changed beforehand from the all-DD affair of 2016 to a standard team meeting as it also was last year. This change certainly didn't disappoint as everyone got involved with some superb racing and wrecking action.

The nine were split between four teams as below:

RIOT SQUAD
606 Jon
616 Jam

THE MOAT MOB
573 Shane
673 Sam M.

WEST COUNTRY WRECKERS
786 Brett
870 Looney

TEAM BANDICOOT
997 Rik
474 Miniman
66 Colin

Despite an early battle, one team completely ran away with the meeting and secured the title with a race to spare...

Top 5 scored in heats and final. Allcomers were non-points. Drivers in italics finished but did not score points. 2 points went to the winning teams in the tied DD.

When a team contains both the 2 Litre and Unlimited World Champion along with the polesitter for next week's European Championship, it will be a surprise to no-one that they come out on top. But it's yet another title for Team Bandicoot as all three team members contributed equally on a true example of winning with numbers. It was the big car champ who scored the most points for the continental team as Miniman scored in all but one race even though he surprisingly failed to win a single one of them! The only success for #474 came in the DD, where he somehow kept Brett at bay for 30 minutes before the DD was called and both got 2 points. The 2 Litre World Champ and Euro Champ #1 place had a good set of wins though, with Rik winning two heats and an Allcomers with Colin claiming a heat and the final.

The Moat Mob, comprising Shane and Sam M., came in second largely thanks to Shane's superb points streak of scoring in every single race (which included two heat wins as well as the non-points Allcomers) that saw him end the night second overall with 24 points, although's Sam's 9 points were crucial in securing place #2. The performer of the night though was Jam, who joined Jon from an impromptu return of Riot Squad to the team meetings after RS looked defunct following Cap's departure from LFS Bangers. The former European champ claimed 26 points on the night including a heat win alongside 2 second places and three thirds, although his partner did contribute a massive 5 points. Propping up the table were the West Country Wreckers, but Looney and Brett were far more focused on trying to destroy the rest of the field with their XRGs than trying to win the meeting, which added a bit of spice especially with some strong and consistent shots on oppo to everyone else regardless of team colour!

So, to conclude:
