Civil War IX Results

Postby Jon#606 » Fri 12 Jan 2018, 11:50 pm

The ninth LFS Bangers Civil War was down on the attendees from last year, but 12 drivers still made it to decide which army would win the war this year. The South were the holders, and the armies were as follows:

ARMIES Image

NORTH
27 Cap
474 Miniman
606 Jon
911 Cole
960 Pepino
997 Rik

SOUTH
47 Michal
200 Young
217 Tilson
669 Mr. Perfect Jr.
786 Brett
870 Looney

All races were for points, and only the Top 10 counted. Drivers who finished outside of the Top 10 are in italics. Points for each side after each race are listed after the race result. The DDs were limited to 10 minutes and in the event of no winner at 10 minutes, the most cars remaining won.

LIGHT BRIGADE
The smallest artillery took to the battlefield first, and although the North had a 28 point lead following the two heats despite winning neither of them, a very slim Southern points win in the final followed by an excellent survival test in the DD saw them close it to 16 points.

Heat 1: Young, Miniman, Cole, Rik, Michal, Jon, Cap, Looney, Brett, Pepino - N 34 - 21 S

Heat 2: Young, Rik, Cole, Cap, Michal, Jon, Miniman, Looney, Pepino, Brett - N 35 - 20 S

Final: Miniman, Michal, Tilson, Young, Pepino, Cap, Jon, Brett, Cole, Looney, Rik - N 54 - 56 S

DD: South (by 4 cars running to 1) - 10 points to South

FINAL LIGHT BRIGADE SCORE: N 123 - 107 S

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

INFANTRY

The mid-range weaponry then entered the affray, and despite a tied first heat the North worked up an advantage, with all 6 of its soldiers finishing in heat 2, and a special medal of honour must go to Miniman who not only won the final for the whites, but was the last car running in the DD! The gap now increased by 26 to 42 points, meaning a massive fightback was needed in the biggest of them all.

Heat 1: Brett, Rik, Miniman, Michal, Pepino, Tilson, Jon, Young, Looney - N 27 - 27 S

Heat 2: Michal, Rik, Brett, Miniman, Pepino, Cap, Jon, Young, Cole, Looney, Tilson - N 31 - 23 S

Final: Miniman, Young, Michal, Cap, Pepino, Brett, Cole, Mr. Perfect Jr., Rik - N 58 - 50 S

DD: North - 10 points to North

FINAL INFANTRY SCORE: N 126 - 100 S

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TANKS

The heavy artillery closed the meeting, and the South finally got rewarded with the effort they'd put in throughout the meeting as they managed to win a division! 5 of the 6 red soldiers finished Heat 2 and numerous members of the squad were left in the DD after a blistering dismantlement of the opposition. Alas, the 42 point gap was too much of a jump for the South, so the Civil War crown once again switched sides.

Heat 1: Rik, Brett, Cap, Looney, Jon, Young, Pepino - N 28 - 21 S

Heat 2: Rik, Young, Brett, Michal, Jon, Tilson, Pepino, Looney, Miniman - N 22 - 32 S

Final: Cap, Rik, Looney, Brett, Mr. Perfect Jr., Jon, Pepino, Michael - N 56 - 48 S

DD: South - 10 points to South

FINAL TANKS SCORE: N 106 - 111 S

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FINAL OVERALL SCORE: NORTH 355 - 318 SOUTH

Following the disastrous Civil War VIII that had numerous arguments and so much immature bickering it didn't even deserve a write up, Civil War IX was far better despite the lower numbers. The win was earned by strong Northern performances in the Light Brigade and Infantry, although the South deserved their Tanks success. The gap was far closer than last year with just 37 points in it at the end, and all drivers who competed did it in a spirited and mature manner. Drivers of the evening were both from the North: Miniman for his two final victories as well as being last car running in the Infantry DD, and Rik for his two Tank heat victories; both drivers also claimed points in all but one race, which helped heavily to the victory.

So without further ado:
