2018 2 Litre Battle of Britain Results

Postby Jon#606 » Fri 13 Jul 2018, 11:54 pm

Before I post up the report of tonight's meeting, I would like to apologise to those affected by the game update that caused some drivers to use up all their S2 unlocks unintentionally and miss parts of tonight's meeting. Although LFS itself was updated to version 0.6T last weekend, we did not get round to updating our server until tonight's meeting with some drivers having downgraded back to 0.6R in advance so they could get on the non-upgraded server. This will not happen again and we will update the server as soon as a new version is released.

Onto the meeting itself, and 9 drivers took to the dangerous Swaffham track for what turned out to be one of the heaviest hitting and closest team meetings in LFS Bangers history! The 4 teams were as follows:

ADMIN SQUAD
606 Jon
870 Looney
27 Cap

PIRANMOTO
616 Jam
47 Michal

TEAM BANDICOOT
961 Pepino
474 Miniman

COLIN/TILSON
66 Colin
217 Tilson

West Country Wreckers won the meeting last year and only Looney from the trio on that night (himself, Splat & Brett) raced this evening. All 4 teams were still in the running to win after the heats, but a final 1-2 decided it before the DD...

Top 5 scored in heats and final. Allcomers were non-points. Drivers in italics finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the winning team in the DD.

POINTS
1st: Admin Squad - 45 points
2nd: PiranMoto - 40 points
3rd: Team Bandicoot - 37 points
4th: Colin/Tilson - 33 points

In what was one of the most fascinating battles for a team title in quite a long time, the winners were the Admin Squad; in place of ever-presents Riot Squad following Cap's Version T troubles, Jon and Looney initially teamed up before LFS Bangers' Godfather joined and produced a perfect team performance that saw all three drivers contribute, but most significantly in the final: with Cap having already won a heat, Looney and him then pulled off a perfect 1-2 finish in the double points final with Jon taking out long time leader Miniman 3 laps from the end on oppo while Miniman's teammate Pepino was rolled by Tilson, eliminating both from contention and giving the trio the title before the DD.

PiranMoto finished second following a number of second places in the heats, with Jam claiming the first non-points Allcomers and Michal the other two, and then winning quite possibly one of the shortest DDs ever as it was won in just under 2 minutes! Team Bandicoot would have been meeting winners had it not been for the aforementioned takeouts in the final, and it would have been quite deserved considering they won the first 5 heats in a row, with Dutchman Miniman claiming 4 straight, but crucially the lack of point scoring from German partner Pepino (only winning 1 heat and finishing in the points in 1 other race) cost them victory. Colin & Tilson were 4th but put up a strong showing, with Colin claiming two heats.

So, just to remind you once:
