17/04/2020: MICROS ROUND 1 RESULTS & REPORT
A solid showing of 13 drivers attended Aldershot for the first round of the Micros' points championship for a night that produced some fine racing action as well as two Allcomers full of wrecking action! I am pleased to report that the issues which plagued last week's World Cup meeting did not reoccur, with all the incidents from last week put behind and a more focused admin(!) ensured the meeting ran smoothly. Two drivers made their first appearances for quite a while in 217 Tilson and 337 Spook from the World Class Wreckers team.
It was one of those returning drivers who came out on top as Tilson emerged victorious from an incredible battle with 85 Mozza to claim the meeting by two points. Despite not winning a single race until the final, 217 picked up three 2nds and two 3rds in the heats before winning the meeting with 69 points and then claiming the second Allcomers as an added bonus. Mozza picked up two heats alongside a 2nd in the final and 3 3rds to finish second overall. Due to the Team Huichen drivers all being ungraded in the Micros, they had a significant advantage over the rest of the field and blitzed the heats, with the previously mentioned 85 being joined by 171 Airis in the double heat winner's circle. 199 Taylor got a heat as well as the first outright DD win of 2020 to secure third overall, with 240 JL also picking up a heat victory; such was the solidity of Team Huichen's performances over the night that apart from the more wrecker-minded Beatdrop, 4 of them finished inside the Top 6, with Spook the only other non-Huichen driver in there. Jam was the best of the rest, picking up the first Allcomers.
Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in 11th or lower finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the DD winner.
Miniman is ahead of Sam on the points table due to a higher best race finish (Miniman's 2nd to Jon's 5th).
