Round 1: Cowdenbeath
Kicking off the revamped 2017 Banger World Series was Scotland's Cowdenbeath, hosting a BWS round for the first time. Although there were just nine drivers in attendance, they did not fail to disappoint with some excellent racing and crashing; more importantly it was taken in great spirit by all, which has been missing from a number of meetings in recent months. It was also a sixes and sevens evening as every driver that raced had 6 or 7 in their race number, which is slightly unusual.
Michal made up for his BWS debut performance last season where he missed out on an automatic Championship grid spot by a single point by having a phenomenal evening, winning three heats and the DD but crucially never finishing below 4th in any race, giving him a stunning 98 points. Cap claimed the final and second on the night with 75, with Jam in third on 72 and also claimed both Allcomers. Current BWS points champion Looney won four heats but two failures to finish saw him end up in 4th on 61 points, and Spook was the last heat winner on the night.
Top 10 scored points in all heats and the top 5 scored points in the final. Two Allcomers were also held. 10 points went to the winner of the DD.
