The first LFS Bangers Reliant Robin World Final was held tonight at Taunton. Although only eight attended (with one driver departing before Heat 1 had even finished) it was still a very entertaining night, with the robin sets causing numerous rolls!
The meeting format had six qualifying heats which would decide the grid for the World Final. These results are below:
Heat 1: Silva (no other finishers)
Heat 2: Silva, Cap, Jon
Heat 3: Silva, Cap, Brett, Michal, Looney
Heat 4: Cap, Brett, Silva, Looney
Heat 5: Silva, Michal, Brett, Jon, Colin
Heat 6: Michal, Silva, Brett, Cap, Jon, Colin
Consequently, the grid for the 2017 Reliant Robin World Final was as follows:
27 Cap - - - - - - - - - - - - - 63 Silva
47 Michal - - - - - - - - - - - 786 Brett
870 Looney - - - - - - - - - - 606 Jon
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - 66 Colin
There were battles throughout the seven car grid, but one important moment at the end decided the title's destination...
Other finisher: Looney
In only his second meeting, Norwegian SIlva claimed his first world final (admittedly not the biggest but still) thanks to an unprecedented clutch failure on long time leader Cap with just one bend remaining for him to claim the title, allowing #63 to sneak through despite being two laps down on the graded points champion when the clutch burnt out! Michal also snuck past #27 to claim second before Looney pushed the undoubtedly disappointed Cap across the line to claim third.
Here are the results from the other races that took place tonight. Congratulations to all the winners of these and the qualifying heats.
Allcomers 1 (Reverse Race): Jon, Silva, Brett, Looney, Cap, Michal
Allcomers 2: Cap, Silva, Michal, Colin
So, without further ado:
CONGRATULATIONS TO 63 SILVA - 2017 RELIANT ROBIN WORLD CHAMPION!
The tenth and third complete season under the running of Jon#606.
