Tonight, LFS Bangers said goodbye to one of its longest-serving drivers as Germany's Pepino Starmanns, the 2016 2 Litre World Champion and 2018 2 Litre British Champion, bowed out of the league after an incredible 9 years of competing. To send him off, the long-awaited head-to-head between his Team Bandicoot and Brett's West Country Wreckers was brought forward from its original scheduled date of 9th November to this evening. As a tribute to his LFS career, Pepino's choice of track for the meeting was one of the first he ever raced on back in 2009: the deadly dangerous FNBangers Autocross Oval known for its tightness and dangerous armco and brick wall turns.
I can say without a doubt this was one of the greatest LFS Bangers meetings ever. We had a superb turn-out of 22! drivers which is easily the highest of the year and the most for quite a while. As well as the return of big wreckers 97 Jake W. and 228 Splat to LFS Bangers after spells away, we also had a new driver in Pepino's fellow German 885 Maurice, who had some very good performances on debut. Every single driver played their part in making this meeting one to remember, and for that we at LFS Bangers thank you dearly.
It was an 11-a-side head to head, which was split as follows:
TEAM BANDICOOT
961 Pepino ©
47 Michal
66 Colin
96 Crash
97 Jake W.
474 Miniman

FINAL OVERALL SCORE: TEAM BANDICOOT 269 - 301 WEST COUNTRY WRECKERS
In the early stages, this was a very close contest with West Country Wreckers winning three races overall and Team Bandicoot two. But a blitz of Bandicoot in Micros Heat 3 that saw WCW finish top 3 and have 6 cars inside the top 10 turned the meeting completely into their favour. Although TB claimed both DDs (largely due to there being far more of them before the DDs even started ) they could not overturn the deficit and ended up 32 points behind the purple side. The evening's best performer was Miniman, claiming a heat and four second places before winning the Micros DD on his own after it looked as if TB would throw away a massive advantage of 4 v 1 (that one being Brett). WCW's star man was Northern Irishman 515 Josh, who despite not winning a points race had consistent finishes that included a pair of 2nd places, a third and two fourths before claiming both Allcomers. Shane and Brett also had good evenings for WCW with two wins each while Rik was the only other winner for TB.
Once again, everyone in LFS Bangers would like to thank Pepino for his years of racing in and dedication to the league and that everything goes great in the future.
CONGRATULATIONS TO WEST COUNTRY WRECKERS - WINNERS OF THE TEAM BANDICOOT v WEST COUNTRY WRECKERS HEAD-TO-HEAD AND TO 961 PEPINO ON HIS FANTASTIC LFS BANGERS CAREER!
* The result of Micros Heat 2 was amended slightly due to a checkpoint error that put Miniman a lap ahead of the rest of the field.
