2017 Micro Bangers Results and Points

Round 1
Possibly owing to the fact it's summer, just seven drivers turned out for the first round of the debuting Micro Bangers series at the new-look Blackwood Car Park Non-Posts layout. Those involved did put on a show though, with some great hitting and racing throughout the evening. The Big Ramp Allcomers was a good idea in theory, but not in practice as everyone rolled numerous times and took six minutes to complete!

Looney won the meeting in rather convincing style after a stellar display, with four heat wins and the DD. Cap finished second with a heat win and two Allcomers. Persistent trier Colin capitalised on the low attendance by claiming two thirds and three fourths before winning the last heat (as well as the special Allcomers) and finishing second in the final to the surprise 15 lap race winner Jon.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Allcomers were non-points. 5 points went to the winning driver in the DD.

Round 2
A much better 10 drivers attended the second round of the Micro Bangers series at Crimond. The tight Scottish circuit provided some excellent racing and a consistent stream of big hitting, especially on the top bend which saw many a car wrecked.

Jam took the meeting by quite a margin as he won two heats and two Allcomers to end top of the pile. Cap got a heat and an Allcomers himself as he went to claim second, while the newly-nicknamed Mr. Perfect Jr. (formerly DarkMetalTim) lived up to his nickname with a heat win on his way to 3rd. Pepino tied with Colin in 4th despite the German winning a heat to the empty handed Dutchman, with Looney rounding out the Top 6 thanks to a heat win, a big final win and an Allcomers of his own. Jon was the surprise victor in the DD, dealing out a number of rolls that got him the win.

Round 3
A slightly higher 11 drivers competed in the third and final round of the Micro Bangers championship at Aldershot. The Hampshire track gave some good racing and wrecking as the racers aimed to claim the crucial grid places for the World Final in 2 weeks. There were two English debutants in total newcomer 111 Grizzly and experienced RFactor driver 306 Pierce.

Rik was tonight's winner, claiming three heats and the final, to move him well up the order. Cap, who claimed the second all-car Allcomers, pipped Looney, who picked up a heat win, by just TWO POINTS to claim pole for the Gizmo's Stadium showdown. Miniman also won a heat, with Jam claiming the first Allcomers and Pepino the DD. Pierce made it a debut to remember with an understated drive to claim Heat 4: if you're winning on debut, you must be good!
