03/04/2020: 2 LITRES ROUND 1 RESULTS & REPORT

The first meeting of the 2020 Live For Speed Bangers mini-season, with the first round of the 2 Litres' points championship at their iconic home of the Blackwood Car Park Oval saw a wonderful turnout of 15 drivers with 4 drivers making their "proper meeting" debuts, all from Team Huichen. These drivers were Englishmen 85 Mozza, 199 Taylor and 240 JL and Lithuanian 171 Airis, with all of them behaving exceptionally well throughout the night. In addition, the fifth Team Huichen member 675 Beatdrop and Northern Irish driver 966 Matt made their maiden appearances in the 2 Litre Grades.

It was double Dutch delight as 66 Colin and the newly-numbered 621 Miniman (previously 474) tied at the top with 62 points each, although it could have been so much different were it not for the climax to the DD. Colin won a superb 4 out of 6 heats to give him an early lead at the top of the table, but Miniman managed to claw it back with a heat win, two 2nds and a third before picking up a vital final win. The other points race winner on the night was Mozza, being the only white top to win a heat as well as the second Allcomers. The DD had these three drivers involved in a battle that looked to be concluding with 1 point each. However, with just FIVE SECONDS left on the timer, 66 rolled over 621 and claimed his 62nd and final point to tie at the top with his Team Bandicoot teammate as 85 also picked up two points. Unsurprisingly these three were the top three in the points, with Mozza ending up 9 points behind the Bandicoot pairing.

Airis also had a debut to remember with second in the final as well as two thirds in the heats sending him to fourth in the table with 48 points, nine ahead of tonight's other Northern Irishman in 515 Josh who finished third in the final and claimed two seconds in the heats. 628 Stwarm, who finished sixth in the points, was the night's other winner with the first Allcomers. A mention to Taylor and JL as well who scored solidly to end up moving out of the white grade at the first attempt; 240 had the best result of the two with a second in heat 6.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in 11th or lower finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the DD winner; in the event of a tie, it would be 2 points each.

Colin is ahead of Miniman on the points table due to a higher number of race wins (Colin's 4.5 to Miniman's 1), and Femme is ahead of Jon on the points table due to a higher best race finish (Femme's 2nd to Jon's 4th).

15/05/2020: 2 LITRES ROUND 2 RESULTS & REPORT

The second round of the 2 Litres points championship saw 14 drivers make the journey to East Anglia and the lethal Swaffham Raceway complete with its deadly posts and kerbs. A superb night's racing and wrecking was had by all as the first back-to-back winner of the season was crowned.

That winner was the still impressive 621 Miniman, who scored 67 points. Miniman claimed three heats and the final alongside a second as well as one of three "winners" of the DD, having somehow survived until the end despite having been rolled multiple times yet landed on his wheels every single time! The 2019 2 Litre World Champion 870 Looney was second, 14 points behind, despite not claiming a win all evening; he did though finish top 5 every time he scored, with two seconds in the heats and a third in the final. 85 Mozza, now in the colours of Team Bandicoot, was joint-third with another of the DD survivors in 616 Jam. Surprisingly completing the top 5 was 606 Jon who picked up rare point-scoring 2nd and 3rd places as well as 5th in the final. The other winners tonight were the returning 902 Drakey with a heat double, 240 JL with the last heat of the evening, 786 Brett with double success in the two Figure 8 Ramps Allcomers and 199 Taylor was the third and final driver to share the points in the DD.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in 11th or lower finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the DD winner; in the event of a three-way tie, it would be 1 point each.

05/06/2020: 2 LITRES ROUND 3 RESULTS & REPORT

The third round of the 2 Litres points championship saw 13 drivers go the other way around the oval at the dangerously quick Dutch track of Ter Apel (Short). There was some wonderful racing and wrecking on display this evening.

Making it 3 out of 3 in the mini-season for the 2 Litres was 621 Miniman, who dominated yet again to net 63 points, having won two heats and the final (yet again!) and could have also had the DD... had he not lost his connection! Nevertheless, it was still enough to come out on top 8 points ahead of his Team Bandicoot teammate 85 Mozza, who had a heat win of his own alongside 2nd in the final. 616 Jam claimed third on 41 points, with a heat victory along the way, while 786 Brett netted a rare double heat win to finish joint 4th on 37 points with his good pal 870 Looney, who had a 2nd in the heats and 3rd in the final. The last points winner of the night was 171 Airis who was the beneficiary of Miniman's computer problems in the DD. In the Allcomers, 320 Hunter and 993 Vitas were the winners.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in 11th or lower finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the DD winner.

21/08/2020: 2 LITRES ROUND 4 RESULTS & REPORT

The fourth and final round of the 2020 2 Litres Grades Championship saw 10 drivers competing at the destructive Speedway Emmen for the last chance to score points for the 2 Litres points table and the Corona Championship grid at the end of September, with 44 Cooper and 235 Kifkyle making their first outings in this championship in this crucial last round. Once again there was some superb racing and wrecking from all involved on the "unusual" Dutch surface. The meeting was ran a closed grid due to low numbers but this actually worked with some rather unpredictable winners!

Winning the 2 Litres Points Championship by a mile was the man who made it 4 out of 4 round wins as 621 Miniman emerged victorious by just TWO POINTS: despite a surprisingly underpar showing in the heats with just one win and a second place, Team Bandicoot's main man once again went the distance in the final to win it (with an Allcomers later on) and eventually finish on 62 points. Second place was Cooper whose superb heat consistency saw him get 4 2nds and 2 3rds, but frustratingly failed to replicate that showing in the final with a lowly 7th to end up on 60 points; he did however claim the first Allcomers. 673 Sam was 3 points behind 44 on 57 points to finish 3rd, winning the opening heat and getting 2nd in the final. 620 Hunter ended up 4th on 54 points thanks to two heat wins, with 993 Vitas the highest placed driver not to win a race as his haul of 50 points got him 5th. Amazingly 606 Jon won two heats thanks to his shrewd powers of avoidance to sneak through when everyone else was wrecking and eventually ended up 6th.

However, the moment of the night must go to 628 Stwarm in the DD. With a minute left between himself and 666 Beatdrop before the DD would be declared, the latter's connection dropped and Stwarm was declared the winner. Amazingly, in a remarkable act of sportsmanship he surrendered the 5 points for victory and requested the DD be drawn because it wasn't fair to win in such circumstances. I have to commend Stwarm for his selflessness and I have to say I've never seen anything like this in LFS Bangers before.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. 5 points went to the DD winner; in the event of a 2-way tie, each driver would receive 2 points.

This last meeting has confirmed the grid for the 2 Litres Corona Championship on 25th September, which can be viewed in the last picture below. Miniman and 85 Mozza lead the way! Hunter was ahead of Taylor due to a higher number of race wins (Hunter's 3 to Taylor's 1/3).
