2020 Mini-Season Unlimiteds Results, Points & Grades

01/05/2020: UNLIMITED ROUND 1 RESULTS & REPORT

Before I start with the write-up from this evening, I must apologise for the delay at the start of the meeting which pushed the start time back by 15 minutes. This was caused by an inadequate number of starting positions which rendered Jam's auto-sorting grid to malfunction and not allocate drivers properly, causing some drivers to end up in rather strange places! :D Everyone at LFS Bangers would like to thank all the drivers for their patience, and in some cases persistence, in running the meeting correctly and properly.

On to the night itself and a superb turnout of 18 drivers rocked up to Ringwood Raceway for the first round of the 2020 mini-season Unlimited Championship. Those dangerous kerbs caught out numerous drivers once again, plus many hard hits into the walls saw cars flying all over the place! We had a new driver to LFS Bangers in 610 Devon, a real-life banger racer and veteran of many other online banger leagues (but not ours! ;) ) Also making their first outings of 2020 were Team Bandicoot star 997 Rik and seasoned LFS Bangers racer 128 Isaac.

It was a former World Champion in this formula who came out on top tonight as 621 Miniman won the meeting with a haul of 62 points. The 2018 World Champion only failed to finish outside the top 3 twice in the heats and the final, with a pair of heat wins and most importantly the final itself. 673 Sam finished the night second with his best meeting performance of the mini-season so far; a string of solid finishes between 4th and 6th alongside a vital DD victory over 621 netted him 50 points. Newcomers Team Huichen once again had an impact, with 85 Mozza, 199 Taylor and 171 Airis all winning a heat each and ending up 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively; for Mozza, this was his third points meeting in succession where he finished in the top 3! Completing the list of winners were 337 Spook in the heats, 628 Stwarm in the first Ramp Race Allcomers and Rik in the second Ramp Race Allcomers.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. Drivers in 11th or lower finished but did not score points. 5 points went to the DD winner.

Taylor is ahead of Airis on the points table due to a higher best race finish (both drivers had a 1st and a 2nd, but Taylor had a 4th whereas Airis only had a 5th). Stwarm is ahead of 616 Jam on the points table due to a higher best race finish (Stwarm's 1st to Jam's 4th). 606 Jon is ahead of 240 JL on the points table due to a higher best race finish (both drivers had a 4th, but Jon had a 6th whereas JL only had a 9th).

19/06/2020: UNLIMITED ROUND 2 RESULTS & REPORT

What was the first single-digit turnout of the 2020 mini-session didn't dampen the spirits of the nine drivers who turned up at Ipswich's Foxhall Stadium for the second round of the Unlimited Championship. There were some incredible races and hits throughout the evening - the biggest shot of the lot being in the first Allcomers that saw two Team Bandicoot drivers destroyed by 870 Looney - so a massive thank you to all who took part.

For the first time in quite a few weeks, 621 Miniman did NOT dominate the meeting. That honour instead went to his Team Bandicoot teammate 66 Colin, who dominated to rack up an incredible 75 POINTS throughout the evening, with three heat wins, a final victory (breaking Miniman's iron grip on final victories) by 0.02 SECONDS from 993 Vitas, whose 45 points this evening saw him finish fifth, and a share of the points in the DD which was declared after his other Bandicoot teammate 85 Mozza, who finished fourth on the night and won the second Allcomers, agreed they didn't want to waste 30 minutes struggling to wreck each other! 616 Jam finished second 14 points behind Colin thanks to his own hat-trick of heat wins, with Miniman in third having curiously finished third three heats in a row and then second three heats in a row. There was also another rare race win for 606 Jon, who claimed the first Allcomers in breathless fashion having been forced to cut the last bend due to a blockage!

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. 5 points went to the DD winner; in the event of a declared DD with only two drivers remaining, each driver received 2 points.

Colin is ahead of Sam on the overall points table due to a higher number of race wins (Colin's 5 to Sam's 1).

17/07/2020: UNLIMITED ROUND 3 RESULTS & REPORT

The second single-digit turnout of the 2020 mini-season saw 8 drivers attend the legendary Arena Essex Raceway for round 3 of the Unlimited Championship. There were some sensational hits and races throughout the evening, with one race being so destructive it ended with no finishers!

Incredibly for just the second time this season a non-Dutch driver won the meeting. That driver was 85 Mozza, the newest Team Bandicoot recruit who produced a sensational showing of consistency to win the meeting with 69 points: he finished outside the top 3 in just one points race (and that was still a 4th place!) and won a single heat as well claiming 2nd in the final. The recent dominant force of 621 Miniman was just TWO POINTS behind his Team Bandicoot teammate despite winning three heats and the first Allcomers (and was the last car running in the second Allcomers, but intentionally rolled it to ensure it finished with no winner) with a lowly 6th in the first heat scuppering his chances of another meeting win. Team Huichen star 171 Airis finished third on 50 points with a heat and final double, with 616 Jam the other winner on the night with a heat and DD double (the latter won after PiranMoto teammate 993 Vitas rolled himself!) and finished fourth overall two points behind Airis.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. 5 points went to the DD winner.

Isaac is ahead of Beatdrop due to a higher number of third places (both drivers had 1 2nd place but Isaac had 2 3rd places to Beatdrop's 1).

04/09/2020: UNLIMITED ROUND 4 RESULTS & REPORT

Eight drivers attended the fast and furious Hednesford Hills Raceway for the fourth and final round of the Unlimited Championship. Accompanying the quick pace were some great hits dished out over the evening.

The non-Dutch dominance continued as 673 Sam produced the racing ability the Moat family are renowned for and dropped just TEN points over the evening, winning two heats, finishing 2nd in another three and claimed the DD at the very last second over 235 Kifkyle to top the points chart with 75 points. Yellow & Black teammate 666 Beatdrop finished second on 70 points thanks to two heat wins and 2nd in the final. 993 Vitas was the highest placed driver from PiranMoto with 58 points thanks to a final win. His Dutch teammate 620 Hunter was the other winner on the night with two heats and claimed both Allcomers.

Top 10 scored in heats and final. Two Allcomers were also held. 5 points went to the DD winner.

This last meeting has confirmed the grid for the Unlimited Corona Championship on 25th September, which can be viewed in the last picture below. 621 Miniman and 616 Jam lead the way, with Jam's "small" haul of 36 points enough to take him onto the front row after tonight's meeting.
